London office AV and VC refurbishment for Global Insurance Provider

Runtech was approached to design, supply, and install AV/VC solutions in a Global Insurance provider's London office.

The client has a beautiful open-plan office with multiple meeting rooms and a large Broker Lounge overlooking Central London. Last summer, Runtech worked with the client to install a Native Microsoft Teams video conferencing solution in five of their meeting rooms. The client decided to redesign the rest of their space based on five design pillars: seamless experience, transparency, sustainability, collaboration, and global brand experience.

Working alongside MCM, workplace strategists and interior design experts, and All Aspex Group, an office fit-out company, Runtech designed an AV solution that complimented the client’s new office.

The project scope included a:

Broker Lounge / Town Hall

With the purpose of hosting clients, the Broker Lounge has a panoramic view across Central London. An LG 98” display was installed in the main area and a 65” LG display above the tea point space. Both screens can display the same image and / or be independent.

To provide an option for video conferencing, an Aver CAM520 Pro was ceiling mounted at the back of the room which covers the keynote speaker and near end. The camera was connected to a high-performance Windows computer via a Msolutions USB Extender. Additionally, a Google Chromecast was connected to the system to allow the client to play Internet-streamed content or TV apps. A Sennheiser Wireless Microphone set was included to provide a presenting option in a Town Hall format and provided near end audio for Teams calls. 10 Pre-existing JBL 24CT ceiling loudspeakers were re-positioned to provide audio coverage of far end audio and speech re-enforcement.

In the Comms Room, a Lightware 4×4 HDMI Matrix switcher managed the inputs and outputs to a Lightware HDMI over CAT6 extenders to transmit video to the screens in the Town Hall. To allow the client to seamlessly switch between different sources and control the audio, we installed a Crestron Control system with an iPad user interface.

Meeting rooms

The majority of meeting rooms are 6pax, two are 4pax, and one 8pax. All rooms included either a 55” or 65” commercial LG display. Two of the meeting rooms will be used for client facing meetings, the rest are for internal use. Kramer Via GO wireless present solutions were connected to the display for wireless presenting and digital signage in the two external meeting rooms. As the client was familiar with Logitech, this was the chosen VC solution for the other six rooms. Each room features a Logitech Rally Bar mini, TAP, Rally Mic pod for enhanced microphone pick up and room booking panels outside. However, the larger 6pax room featured a Logitech Rally Bar instead of the mini.

Huddle rooms

The office has a total of five huddle rooms. The client requested that two of those rooms have video conferencing facilities. Each room varies in size, seating between four and eight people. With this in mind, a 55” LG commercial displays were installed in each. For the VC rooms, a Logitech Rally bar mini and Logitech TAP were installed to allow one-touch-join with wireless and HDMI content-sharing. In the other three rooms, a Kramer Via Go was installed for wireless presenting and digital signage.
