Twickenham Experience commissioned Runtech to deliver a fully integrated outdoor AV solution for a bespoke stacked container bar installation. The project formed part of a wider fan engagement environment at one of the UK’s most iconic sporting venues, and is recognised as the world’s first self-service bar of its kind within a stadium environment, combining high impact visual display technology with robust, outdoor ready performance systems.
From the outset, the project required careful coordination between multiple stakeholders, including Makon Engineering. The installation was not a conventional internal fit out, but a shipping container based modular structure that demanded early stage engineering input to ensure all AV systems could be physically integrated during fabrication rather than retrofitted on site.
Runtech was responsible for the technical design, system coordination, and installation of the AV infrastructure, including large format LED displays, digital signage screens, and outdoor audio. The core visual system centred around a main outdoor LED video wall designed to deliver live match coverage and high brightness event content. The LED system was fully weatherproofed and IP-rated for outdoor use, ensuring reliable performance in all conditions, supported by a secondary 9-metre LED ribbon display used for dynamic menus, signage, and contextual messaging across the bar frontage. In addition, a network of five signage displays was incorporated across both indoor and outdoor areas of the container structure, extending the digital experience across multiple customer touchpoints.

In addition, a network of five signage displays was incorporated across both indoor and outdoor areas of the container structure, extending the digital experience across multiple customer touchpoints.
A key part of the design process involved a detailed site survey and early structural analysis of the shipping container build. Because the units were being prefabricated off site and delivered as completed structures, all mounting positions, fixing points, and service routes had to be defined in advance. Runtech produced coordinated elevation drawings and technical submittals that specified exact screen positions, weights, power requirements, and data connectivity needs. These drawings were then issued to the shipping container fabrication team, enabling them to pre drill mounting points into the steel structure and integrate containment routes before delivery to site.
The system design was built around client supplied AMINO IPTV players, which acted as the primary content source for each display. This required careful planning of network and power distribution, with each LED zone allocated dedicated connectivity and spare capacity to allow for future expansion. The approach ensured that the system remained flexible while still maintaining a clean and controlled infrastructure within the constrained container environment.
Alongside the visual system, Runtech designed an integrated outdoor audio solution to support the main LED display. This included IP-rated column loudspeakers mounted externally to the container structure, paired with a compact amplification system housed internally. The audio design was intended to deliver clear, intelligible coverage across the outdoor seating and bar areas while maintaining durability in exposed conditions. The system was engineered to take its primary feed from the IPTV-driven video system, ensuring synchronisation between audio and visual content.
The installation also required careful consideration of signage integration, with additional indoor and outdoor screens mounted at defined heights and positions throughout the structure. Each display required precise coordination of mounting hardware, structural fixing points, and service access routes. As with the main LED systems, all signage positions were pre engineered and documented in elevation drawings to ensure accurate installation during the container build phase.
Execution of the project was tightly aligned to a fixed delivery programme, dictated by the arrival and assembly schedule of the container structures. With limited time between delivery and operational readiness, Runtech coordinated closely with site contractors to ensure all second fix works, system commissioning, and alignment activities were completed efficiently within the available window.
Once installed, the system underwent full commissioning, including LED calibration, IPTV input verification, audio balancing, network testing across all zones, and verification of outdoor weatherproof integrity. Particular attention was given to ensuring consistent brightness and colour performance across the outdoor LED surfaces, as well as maintaining clear speech intelligibility from the external speaker system in a high ambient noise environment.

The completed installation delivered a cohesive and high impact digital environment that significantly enhances the container bar experience. Live sports content, dynamic signage, and integrated audio now operate as a unified system, designed to perform reliably in a demanding outdoor stadium setting.
More broadly, the project demonstrates Runtech’s capability in delivering complex, multi system AV integrations within modular and prefabricated environments. By engaging early in the design process and working closely with fabrication and technology partners, the project was delivered as a fully engineered solution rather than a conventional site installation, ensuring long term reliability, flexibility, and performance.
