Upfield is a Dutch company, owning well-known iconic brands including Flora, Rama, Blue Band, Proactive, Becel, Country Crock and Violife. They operate in 95 countries worldwide, including their UK location in London.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF
Upfield required an AV company to design, supply, install, and provide support in their new Southworks office, London. The project brief required the integrator to provide a consultative service prior to being invited for tender. It was during this phase that the relationship between Runtech and Upfield blossomed as Runtech understood the brief and vision. Part of our service included: asset tracking, decommission, packing and logistics of existing AV and VC hardware from their previous two London offices.
Upfield requirements were for a cost-effective solution with MS Teams and Zoom VC platforms available in every room. It was important to try and re-use as much of their existing AV hardware, as well as integrate it with new hardware. This was influenced by Upfield’s environmentally aware policies (to re-use good, working hardware). Additionally, they requested that each room had BYOD capabilities and were suitable to hold virtual and physical meetings combined, without affecting the sound or video quality.
The project included installations in the Town Hall Collaborative Space, Pantry, eight meeting rooms as well as installing room booking panels as a phase two project.
The final solution
MEETING ROOMS
As the existing displays in their previous London offices were still of high quality, Runtech were able to repurpose them for the new site. Only a few of the meeting rooms required new Chief tilting mounts with additional VC technology, and the Town hall required a full upgrade.
In three smaller meeting rooms, Runtech installed a Poly Studio USB video bar which supports BYOD. Certified for both Zoom and MS Teams, this premium quality solution provides assurance that everyone in the room will be seen and heard clearly.
In the boardroom, Runtech opted to install the Logitech Rally Bar Plus package combined with a triple screen display. In the larger Meeting Rooms, the installation included a Logitech Rally Bar, TAP IP and Swytch Combination. The Rally bars provide a powerful all-in-one conferencing experience with rich quality sound. The TAP allows participants to touch-to-join with instant content sharing whilst the Swytch provides BYOD capabilities as requested by the client.
In the four remaining rooms, Runtech were able to re-use native MS Teams solutions from existing sites. Two rooms have a 50” Microsoft Surface Hub solution and a Crestron Fusion VC solution in the other two.
TOWN HALL COLLABORATION SPACE
Within the Town Hall, Runtech installed a dual 98” LG Displays solution on height-adjustable trollies. A Logitech TAP for native Teams, Logitech Rally Camera and Logitech Swytch were installed to provide VC and the option to present. A Sennheiser Speech line Handheld microphone and Lapel were moved across from the previous office, along with pendant speakers.
Upfield are in the process of recycling and selling off any unused AV hardware from the 2 original offices and the proceeds will be donated to the Ukraine War support charities.
WHAT OUR CLIENT THINKS
During the build of our new office in London Runtech worked tirelessly to provide us with the best solution for our needs, not only with new equipment but showing us how to use what we had in a much smarter way therefore saving us money in the long run. The dedication and the pride in the work provided by Chris and the team has been outstanding and frankly I wish I had them onboard years ago. Working with the Runtech team of professionals has been a pleasure and we are always impressed with their “can-do” “make it happen” approach to everything we threw at them during the build. I have worked with many audio visual suppliers and without question none have held up to the standards of Runtech.
A NOTE FROM OUR Managing DIRECTOR
From the outset, the client treated Runtech as a partner rather than a supplier which created a collaborative working harmony. The main contractor Morgan Lovell and customer consultants Cushman and Wakefield were also a pleasure to work with. It was interesting working on a substantial project that involved re-using so much existing hardware as we had to change our overall approach. The team spent a lot of time testing, asset tracking and relocating the hardware, but as you walk through the space it all looks brand new. The design of the working space is unique, and this always makes a project more enjoyable.
