Tell us about yourself?

Born and raised in South Africa, I moved to London in October 1994. After several years of travelling, I started my career in AV with a company called Vision Re. I fell in love with it and never looked back. I have two children and live in London. My dream is to move down south to live by the sea and start surfing every day again.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love spending time with my two children. I also used to surf a lot so love visiting the South West on short weekend breaks. I love music, playing the guitar, and enjoy listening to Radiohead, Nothing But Thieves, Pixies and many more bands. As a sports lover, I’m a Man United, Andy Murray, Lewis Hamilton and Springbok supporter. I’m also an avid reader and have a real love for Richard Yates.

Tell us about your career

I entered the AV industry in 1996 as an engineer, working on several projects including the very first videowall for Coca Cola in Piccadilly Circus. I spent some time working for BNP Paribas as their on-site AV Manager before moving to Barbados to help complete the Sandy Lane Hotel Project.

After co-running Motav Ltd across the UK and EMEA, I founded F1AV in 2008. My most memorable projects included working for Apple Retail and Apple Corporate for a five year period, implementing over 50 Zoom Rooms for Sophos across the UK, EMEA, Asia and the USA, and installing AV in M&M World Store and Stella McCartney in London.

F1AV was acquired by Snelling Business Systems where I was employed as Commercial Account Manager working on several large AV projects around the UK.

In 2019, I joined Runtech as Director of AV and ICT. My role mainly includes securing new business opportunities, consulting customers on their AV requirements, providing conceptual designs, overseeing and managing the team and developing and improving processes. Regaining my CTS qualification in 2018, I believe everyone should keep building on their technical skills. I encourage all my team to dedicate time to training, ensuring we have the right skills and experience to meet the needs of our clients.

What’s been your favourite project?

In the past two years at Runtech, I’ve worked on so many exciting projects. My favourite included The Thomas Telford Theatre Upgrade at One Great George Street, which made the finalists of Inavates “Project of the Year”. I’ve also enjoyed implementing numerous Zoom and Teams Rooms for various clients during the COVID-19 period.

We have some really great projects coming up over the next few months in the UK and Europe. Make sure you are following our LinkedIn page to stay up to date!
